P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 4, Mercer Chiefs 1

Captain Ty Broad and Heikki Virtanen, both key members of the 2023 Dineen Cup National Championship team, each scored a goal and two assists, and fellow champ Carter Hanrahan posted a 1-1-2 line in the win. Nick Bevilacqua stopped 29 of 30 in net for P.A.L., currently on a four-game winning streak.

 

Utica Jr. Comets 4, Boston Junior Bruins 3 

For the second straight day, the Jr. Comets eked out a one-goal win against the Boston Junior Bruins, pulling to within one point of their third-place opponents in the standings. All four of the Jr. Comets goals were scored consecutively en route to a 4-0 lead, which the Junior Bruins eroded away at but they could never overtake the Jr. Comets. Robert Gatewood’s goal and assist led the Jr. Comets offensively, and Waylon Esche got his second straight win with 28 saves on 31 shots.

 

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 4, Rockets Hockey Club 1

William Jasmin’s 10th of the year was the GWG, and he added an assist in the win, while Justin Filippelli also scored a goal and an assist. Iannico Amaranto made 38 saves on 39 shots to help lead his team to victory. With the two wins, the Knights pulled into a tie for second in the Atlantic Division with the Rockets.

 

Connecticut Jr. Rangers 2, Jersey Hitmen 1

The Rangers picked up a big 2-1 victory against the Hitmen, closing the proceedings in regulation as Jack Houser’s fourth of the year was scored with 32 seconds remaining in the third. Mason Joseph made 42 saves on 43 shots for the victory. The teams head to Wayne on Sunday in the only NCDC action of the day.

 

Twin City Thunder 3, South Shore Kings 2

Edvin Robertsson scored twice and Stefan Carney made 41 saves on 43 shots to help the Thunder split their weekend with the South Shore Kings as both games ended with 3-2 scores and different winners.

 

Idaho Falls Spud Kings 5, Utah Outliers 4 (SO)

Ryan Johnson scored the SOGWG to close the game in which Jack O’Rourke scored two goals to help the Spud Kings come back from a 3-1 deficit for the win. Prestyn Carter stopped 28 of 32 for Idaho Falls and Utah’s Griffin Davis stopped 41 of 45.

 

Ogden Mustangs 7, Rock Springs Grizzlies 1

Dimitri Voyatzis scored a 2-1-3 line and Payton Struck put up a 1-2-3 line to lead the Mustangs to a big win. Ryan Wallin stopped 26 of 27 in net
