The Playoff Push: Feb. 29, 2024

By USPHL Staff

In The Playoff Push, we will take a look at the busiest game days’ most integral games in regards to teams clinching playoffs or clinching specific playoff berths, as we head down the stretch toward the end of the regular season in March.

NCDC

2 games today, 60 more remaining.

New England Division

Last night, the Northern Cyclones (No. 5) defeated the regional rival Islanders Hockey Club (No. 1).

Today we see Twin City (No. 6) at South Shore (No. 2). Twin City and the Cyclones can do no better than fourth, so their goal is for each to see the other eliminated. A Twin City loss would bring the Junior Bruins two points closer to clinching. Their magic number vs. Twin City is currently 4, not reflecting any tiebreakers.

South Shore is looking to secure home ice. Their magic number vs. Utica (No. 3) in this quest is 3.

Mountain Division

Rock Springs (No. 6) is at Idaho Falls (No. 4). This is one of those games in hand that Idaho Falls holds over Pueblo (No. 5). A win puts them up by three points in the race for the final playoff spot.

In the first round, Ogden and Utah will be hosting someone from the list of Provo, Idaho and Pueblo. We’re weeks away from resolution.

Atlantic Division

P.A.L.’s challengers for the Founders Cup are Ogden, Islanders Hockey Club and South Shore. Anything but a South Shore Kings win today scratches them from this race within a race.
