NCDC 2023-24 Players Of The Week: New England Division

New England Division

Forward: Garrett Krieger, Utica Jr. Comets 

Krieger (‘03/Rochester, N.Y.) scored the majority of his seven points in 11 games so far this year in the two-game sweep of the Boston Junior Bruins, posting two goals and two assists for four points. He posted a 1-2-3 line in the first game and had the game-winning goal in the second. 

 

Defense: Samuel Larsson, Islanders Hockey Club 

Larsson (‘04/Stockholm, Sweden) continues to enjoy a great first season in North America, and most recently put up a goal and two assists for three points. He was also a +2 with three blocked shots to help the team to a sweep of the Northern Cyclones. 

 

Goaltender: Stefan Carney, Twin City Thunder

Carney (‘03/Wheeling, Ill.) is a third-year Tier II goaltender who put up a fantastic couple games, making 41 saves in each. He went 1-1 as he stopped 41 of 44 in the Thunder’s first game against the South Shore Kings, and then posted a line of 41 of 43 for a total save percentage of .943 on the weekend. He has a 3.00 GAA and .931 save percentage on the season. 

 

Rookie*: Jake Kavanagh, South Shore Kings

A familiar face who has won this honor before, the ‘05 from Montreal, Que., continues to come up huge for the second place Kings. He was in on all of the offense in a 3-2 Kings win. He registered two goals, including the GWG, plus one assist. He has 10 points in 12 games this year.
