The PAL Junior Islanders take a 2-0 series lead after a 5-2 Game 2 win against the Mercer Chiefs, which saw Arthur Mirante light up the scoreboard with a hat trick. Additionally, Ryan McKenna had a goal and three assists and Carson Nickulas rang up three assists. Ryan Kearney had two assists for P.A.L. In net, Lukas Vejmelka made 33 saves on 35 shots for P.A.L., and Dominick Gatto stopped 35 of 39 shots for Mercer. Game 3 will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. EDT at Ice Land Skating Center, home of the Chiefs.
Northern Cyclones 4, South Shore Kings 1
The Northern Cyclones got even with the South Shore Kings in the New England Division Championship series on Wednesday, winning 4-1 to put the series score at 1-1. Cyclones veteran Michael Markowski scored twice for the Cyclones, and Aidan Petroff had two assists. Paul Dalessio stopped 31 of 32 shots for the Cyclones, and South Shore’s Beau Lane made 33 saves on 35 shots.
Game 3 is on Friday in Foxboro, Mass., at 2 p.m. EDT.
