The Wolves picked up the Black Friday victory against the HItmen, with Emil Szepesi (’06/Timra, Sweden) scoring the game-winner in the first period. Charles Becnel (’04/West Chester, Pa.) dished out two assists. In goal, Griffin Davis (’05/Nashua, N.H.) stopped 39 of 40 shots for the victory.
Idaho Falls Spud Kings 5, Casper Warbirds 3
The Spud Kings broke a 3-3 tie to win 5-3 in Casper on Friday night. Andrew Schmidt (’05/Chicago, Ill.) scored twice, including the GWG. William Donovan (’04/Zionsville, Ind.) had a goal and an assist, and Easton Edwards (’05/Anchorage, Alaska) posted two assists. Charlie Durkin (’06/Glencoe, Ill.) made 31 saves on 34 shots for the win.
Rock Springs Grizzlies 3, Pueblo Bulls 0
In his second NCDC start, Matthew MacArthur (’04/Barrington, Ill.) stopped all 28 shots he faced for a shutout victory over the host Bulls. Edvin Edlund (’05/Ă–stersund, Sweden) scored the game-winning goal.
Ogden Mustangs 6, Utah Outliers 5 (SO)
Troy Hunka (’06/North Canton, Ohio) picked up a goal and two assists during regulation time for the Mustangs, and added the clinching shootout goal as the Mustangs defeated the Outliers to keep possession of first place in the Mountain Division. A.J. Iwinski (’05/Batavia, Ill.) and Jiri Duda (’05/Glen Ellyn, Ill.) also each had a 1-2-3 line, while Brody Simko (’04/Butler, Pa.) scored the game-winning shootout goal. Hunter Bauer (’06/Bristow, Va.) stopped 29 of 34 shots in the win, plus both Utah shootout attempts. In the Outliers net, Marcus Ouellet (’04/Toronto, Ont.) stopped 43 of 48 shots.
