Islanders Hockey Club 5, Worcester Railers JHC 2
The Islanders were 5-2 victors in their first-ever meeting with the Worcester Railers Junior Hockey Club on Friday afternoon. IHC fourth-year veteran and Captain Braxton Powers (’04/Raleigh, N.C.) and second-year IHC veteran Joseph Samango (’05/Havertown, Pa.) each registered a goal and two assists. Second-year Islander Samuel Larsson (’04/Sweden) had two assists, and goaltender Ryan Crowshaw (’04/West Hartford, Conn.) made 17 saves for the win.
South Shore Kings 5, Utica Jr. Comets 1
The South Shore Kings improved to 3-1-0-0 after their second win against the Utica Jr. Comets this week, taking Friday’s game by a 5-1 score. Sacred Heart (NCAA Division I) recruit Jack DesRuisseaux, an ‘’04 from Manchester, N.H.., scored the GWG in the first period. Fellow returning Kings and #DineenCup champions Jason Zaccari (’05/Santa Ana, Calif.) had three assists and Brian Grant (’04/Mansfield, Mass.) had a goal and an assist.
Jersey Hitmen 5, Rockets Hockey Club 4 (OT)
A great showing of USPHL Advancement In Action, former Elmira Impact (Premier) All-Star Filip Tomiczek, a 2004-born native of Trinec, Czechia, scored two goals including the OT game-winner for the Hitmen. The Hitmen also got a goal and an assist apiece from Breyden Zupsansky (’04/Brecksville, Ohio), Captain Tyler Fogu (’04/Bayonne, N.J.) and Sammy Mielock (’04/Grand Rapids, Mich.) In net, Evan Tompkins (’05/Fairfax, Va.) made 19 saves on 23 shots for the win in net.
For the Rockets, the leaders were Quinten Harvie (’05/Comox, B.C.) and Tyler Kuznier (’07/High Bridge, N.J.) with a goal and an assist apiece, while Xavier Delisle (’07/La Sarre, Que.) made 38 saves in net.
West Chester Wolves 3, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 1
The Wolves continue to be one of the top teams in the NCDC right from the get-go, taking their third win of the season in their fourth game. With 1:05 remaining in regulation, the Wolves’ Connor Stokes (’05/Easton, Md.) scored the game-winner. Sebastian Pribula (’05/Kosice, Slovakia) stopped 21 saves for the win.
P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 4, Mercer Chiefs 2
The Jr. Islanders got into the win column for the first time this season, with a vu over the Mercer Chiefs. Second-year Jr. Islander defenseman Aidan Holland (’05/Topsfield, Mass.) scored twice, and fellow blueliner Carson Nickulas (’04/Barnstable, Mass.) posted a 2-1-3 line. Nickulas was the Jr. Isles’ first pick in Phase II of the 2024 NCDC Entry Draft. Lukas Vejmelka (’04/Trebic, Czechia) was playing in his first North American game and stopped 32 of 34 shots in the win.
Idaho Falls Spud Kings 3, Rock Springs Grizzlies 2 (OT)
Will O’Donovan (’06/Cambridge, Minn.) scored the overtime game-winner to give the Spud Kings an early 3-0 record in the league. Easton Edwards (’05/Anchorage, Alaska) and Bookie Warshaw (’05/Gilbert, Ariz.) put up two assists apiece, and goaltender Prestyn Carter (’04/Macomb, Mich.) was strong in net with 45 saves on 47 shots.
Casper Warbirds 3, Pueblo Bulls 1
The Casper Warbirds moved to 2-0 after defeating the Pueblo Bulls by a 3-1 score on Friday night. Ryan Henry (’04/Wayne, N.J.) stopped 30 of 31 shots, while the Warbirds got a goal and an assist apiece from Anton Petrovskiy (’04/Detroit, Mich.), Daniel Dunda (’05/Czechia) and Gavin Black (’06/Anchorage, Alaska).
Ogden Mustangs 3, Utah Outliers 0
In his North American debut, Dilans Birkans (’06/Jumala, Latvia) stopped all 20 shots he faced from the Outliers to start his NCDC career with a shutout win. Troy Hunka (’06/North Canton, Ohio) and Jackson Walsh (’05/Northville, Mich.) each had one goal and one assist, and Jiri Duda (’05/Glen Ellyn, Ill.) had two assists.
