NCDC New England Division Players Of The Month: January 2025

Forwards

Jack DesRuisseaux, South Shore Kings 

The Sacred Heart University recruit DesRuisseaux (‘04/Manchester, N.H) was a star player for the Kings in January, scoring five goals and posting seven assists over nine games throughout the month. In addition to his busy schedule with the Kings, he posted two assists at the end of the month for the New England All-Star team at his home rink in Foxboro.

 

Keenan Schneider, Northern Cyclones 

Schneider (‘04/Villanova, Penn.) averaged 1.5 points per game over six games in January, registered two goals and seven assists for the Northern Cyclones. He scored points in all but one game last month, bringing his season points total to 33 (seven goals; 26 assists). This is his second NCDC season.

 

Braxton Powers, Islanders Hockey Club

Powers (‘04/Raleigh, N.C.) added 13 points to his scorecard last month, averaging 1.29 points per game over 10 games with the Islanders. He also scored one goal and posted one assist for the New England All-Star team at the end of the month. Over four NCDC seasons, the veteran has 118 career points over 136 games.

Defense

Zachary Walsh, South Shore Kings 

Walsh (‘05, Lake View, N.Y.), a Hamilton College recruit, registered a massive 13 assists over 11 games with the South Shore Kings to earn the January Player of the Month nomination. Coming off a weekend with the New England All-Star team, he has 33 points across 39 games played in his inaugural NCDC season.

 

Isaac Barrett, Utica Jr Comets 

Barrett (‘04/Zionsville, Ind.) scored one goal and registered seven assists over eight games with Utica in January, averaging one point per game. The rookie blueliner is on a four-game points streak, with 10 career points in his inaugural NCDC season.

 

Defense Honorable Mention: Jason Zaccari, South Shore Kings

 

Goaltender

Beau Lane, South Shore Kings 

Lane (‘04/Pembroke, Mass.) went 8-2-0-0 in January, making 253 saves on 272 shots for a .930 save percentage. The SUNY-Plattsburgh commit played 581 minutes throughout the month, garnering a 1.96 goals against average. The first-year NCDC player scored his first career shutout on Jan. 4, making 31 saves. 

 

Goaltender Honorable Mention: Logan Abric, Northern Cyclones

 

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
