P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 3, Thunder Hockey Club 0

Lukas Vejmelka (’04/Trebic, Czechia) stopped 32 Thunder Hockey Club shots for a Thursday shutout to kick off NCDC action at the USPHL Jersey Hitmen Classic. Ryan Kearney (’04/Kings Park, N.Y.) scored a goal and an assist, and the team also got two assists apiece from Michael Calabrese (’05/Wantagh, N.Y.) and Ryan McKenna (’04/Garden City, N.Y.)

 

Seacoast Spartans 4, Jersey Hitmen 3

In the biggest upset of the season so far, the previously winless Spartans defeated the previously unbeaten Jersey Hitmen in overtime. The Spartans were down late 3-2, before Sam Myles (’04/Westborough, Mass.) tied the game with 6:58 remaining in regulation. Marcus Bellomo (’04/Salem, N.H.) scored the Spartans’ first-ever game-winner and OT winner in their NCDC history. Jacob Jaslow (’04/Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made 44 saves on 47 shots in regulation and overtime for the first Seacoast goalie win.

 

Utica Jr. Comets 4, Connecticut Jr. Rangers 1

The Jr. Comets got a goal and an assist from Cameron Golovin (’05/Buffalo, N.Y.) and the game-winner from Jr. Comets veteran Daniel Urban (’04/Orchard Park, N.Y.), along with 36 saves on 37 shots from USPHL Premier alum Dylan Eliason (’04/Northville, Mich.) in their Thursday Hitmen Classic victory. That gave the Jr. Comets two wins in a row going back to last weekend’s series against the Thunder Hockey Club.

 

Northern Cyclones 6, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 1

The Cyclones enjoyed a sound victory to kick off their two-game Hitmen Classic stand and they are now unbeaten in regulation in their past three games. Veteran leader Michael Markowski (’04/Spring Lake, N.J.) put up two goals and an assist, including his league-leading eighth goal. Ian Duffy (’04/Chester Springs, Pa.) also enjoyed a three-point outing at 1-2-3, and the team got two assists apiece from Keenan Schneider (’04/Villanova, Pa.) and Alek Brudek (’05/Northville, Mich.) In goal, Cyclones veteran Paul Dalessio (’05/Burlington, Mass.)  made 26 sa

 

Rockets Hockey Club 6, Boston Jr. Rangers 4

Dylan Margel (’05/Potomac, Md.) scored two goals and two assists for the Rockets, and Jared Rothman (’06/Chappaqua, N.Y.) assisted on four goals as the Rockets edged past a Boston Jr. Rangers team that led 4-3 at a point in the second period. The Jr. Rangers themselves got three-point efforts from Tyler Dale (’04/Pewaukee, Wis.) and Jake Russell (’04/Arlington, Mass.)  Derek Wood (’06/Louisville, Colo.) stopped 22 shots for the Rockets win.

 

Worcester Railers JHC 3, West Chester Wolves 2 (SO) 

Ben Jarosz (’05/Franklin, Mass.) scored the shootout-winning goal to lift the Railers past the Wolves in a shootout to end the USPHL Jersey Hitmen Classic action on Thursday night. In net, Cole Scullion (’06/Burlington, Ont.) stopped 35 of 37 shots in 65 minutes, and then all three West Chester Wolves shootout attempts.
