South Shore Kings 5, Worcester Railers JHC 2
The South Shore Kings extended their New England Division lead to eight points after defeating the Worcester Railers JHC by a 5-2 score. NCDC All-Stars selection Gregor Jennersjo (’04/Stockholm, Sweden) led the way with a goal and two assists, and recent Wesleyan University recruit Will Rassier (’04/Princeton, N.J.) had a goal and an assist as did Alec Babineau (’05/Lafayette, Colo.) Beau Lane made 24 saves on 26 shots for the win.
Boston Jr. Rangers 4, Seacoast Spartans 2
The Jr. Rangers picked up a win against fellow first-year NCDC team the Seacoast Spartans on Friday. Leading scorers for the Jr. Rangers were Turner Richards (’04/Minocqua, Wis.) and Gianpaolo Giamartino (’04/Syracuse, N.Y.) and Beckham Dempsey (’04/Wayne, Ill.) stopped 56 of 58 shots in net. Jaden Duprey (’05/St. Albans, Vt.) scored both goals for Seacoast.
Islanders Hockey Club 6, Utica Jr. Comets 3
The Islanders earned an important two points to leapfrog the Jr. Comets in the standings from fourth into third position in New England. Cameron Stehle (’06/Raleigh, N.C.) scored twice and added one assist and Braxton Powers (’05/Raleigh, N.C.) also scored twice for the team. Their fellow NCDC All-Stars selection Joseph Samango (’05/Havertown, Pa.) earned assists on three goals. Hometown product Braxton Castagno (’04/Tyngsboro, Mass.) made 34 saves on 37 shots for the win.
Northern Cyclones 3, Thunder Hockey Club 1
A second period goal by Loik Leduc (’06/Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Que.) was the difference as the game-winner in a match that saw both goalies shine brightly. For the Cyclones, Logan Abric (’04/Hayward, Wis.) made 28 saves on 29 shots for the win, and the Thunder’s Prestyn Carter (’04/Macomb, Mich.) stopped 42 of 45 shots.
Jersey Hitmen 5, West Chester Wolves 2
The Hitmen defeated the Wolves, 5-2, and they are on a two-game winning streak. Five different goal-scorers put in goals for the Hitmen, including the GWG by NCDC All-Stars selection Wilson Farrow (’04/Sudbury, Ont.) Jordan Laroda (’06/Stittsville, Ont.) and Aiden Ryan (’04/Raleigh, N.C.) each had two assists in the win. Nick Bunch made 33 saves on 35 shots in the win.
Connecticut Jr. Rangers 4, Rockets Hockey Club 2
The Connecticut Junior Rangers defeated the Rockets Hockey Club 4-2, with powerful efforts from both goaltenders. For the Jr. Rangers, Jakub Kral (’04/Czechia) stopped 39 of 41 shots and the Rockets’ Jason Cai (’05/Basking Ridge, N.J.) stopped 42 of 46 shots. Four goal-scorers scored for the Jr. Rangers, including NCDC All-Stars selection Alexander Ondos (’04/Baden, Pa.) scoring the GWG. Magnus Turcotte (’05/North Haven, Conn.) had two assists.
Utah Outliers 4, Pueblo Bulls 1
The Outliers pulled to within a point of the third-place Bulls on the strength of Utah’s third straight win. NCDC All-Stars selection Kaleb Pitman (’04/Fergus Falls, Minn.) scored twice, and five of his teammates enjoyed multi-point efforts. Matthew MacArthur (’04/Barrington, Ill.) made 25 saves on 26 shots to earn the win.
Idaho Falls Spud Kings 6, Rock Springs Grizzlies 1
Sammy Grimaldi (’05/Elk Grove Village, Ill.) scored a hat trick for a second straight game and his fourth since Jan. 18. NCDC All-Star selections D.J. MacLeish (’05/Troy, Mich.) and Andrew Schmidt (’05/Chicago, Ill.) had two assists and a goal and an assist, respectively. Alex Sabev (’06/Mounds View, Ohio) made 17 saves on 18 shots to seal the win.
Ogden Mustangs 6, Casper Warbirds 4
The Ogden Mustangs earned a victory against the visiting Warbirds, as they were led by Denis Kuzmenkov (’06/Moscow, Russia) and Caleb Bendell (’05/Chanhassen, Minn.) with two goals apiece. Bendell also had an assist, and the Mustangs got two assists apiece from NCDC All-Star selections Troy Hunka (’06/North Canton, Ohio) and Jackson Walsh (’05/Northville, Mich.) Dilans Birkans (’06/Ilskile, Latvia) picked up the win in net with 23 saves on 27 shots.
