NCDC Commitments: Hitmen Veteran Fogu Commits To Skidmore College

Forward Tyler Fogu has had the best possible experience playing the past two seasons with the Jersey Hitmen and he is excited to announce his NCAA Division III commitment to Skidmore College for the 2025-26 season.

Fogu, a native of Bayonne, N.J., signed with the Hitmen in the NCDC last season and had 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 44 games. He had some unfinished business and re-signed to hopefully bring home a Dineen Cup this season. In 48 games played so far, Fogu has 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) and has been a key member to the Hitmen’s success.

“There’s no better place to play in the NCDC,” said Fogu. “Everything the Hitmen do is world class, whether it’s player development or college advancements. The numbers don’t lie. I signed here for a second season because I knew coming into this year we had a lot more to prove after last year’s performance. We have a special group that still has a lot left to prove this year.”

Fogu has been in talks with Skidmore since last summer, before this current season got underway. When Head Coach Rob Hutchinson reached out to Fogu, he knew Skidmore was a place where he could really develop as a player and get a great education.

“Skidmore takes pride in producing successful hockey programs,” said Fogu. “Each year, Skidmore has had a solid season in a tough division. After coach Hutchinson reached out I knew pretty quickly Skidmore could be a place where I can continue my hockey and academic career. Coach Hutchinson immediately made me feel like I can contribute next season.

“In addition to the hockey component which is important, Skidmore is also known for their great academic programs,” said Fogu. “Having the opportunity to continue playing hockey in a successful hockey program and excellent academic institution is something I have always wanted.”

Fogu loved the campus and the community that came along with it and the amenities within the hockey program are really what sold him.

“From the school out to the town, Skidmore upholds such a special tight-knit community,” said Fogu. “The atmosphere on campus was inviting as well as exciting. The student body was engaging and the hockey players were all welcoming. The rink is a combination of a classic facility which becomes alive for Skidmore games. However, my favorite place has to be the new locker room. The locker room facility demonstrated to me how serious the school is about the hockey program.”

Fogu hopes to spend time this off-season getting stronger and continuing to work on his two-way power forward play style. But, first winning a Dineen Cup in New Jersey with his teammates is top priority.

“We came into this season with a goal to clinch playoffs,” said Fogu. “Now that we have done that, we are eager to win another championship at home in Wayne, N.J.”

The NCDC congratulates Tyler Fogu, his family, the Jersey Hitmen and Skidmore College for his commitment.
